The Lorraine Parc Naturel Régional  (PNRL) is characterized by its many types of landscapes and in particular by the number and diversity of its wetlands: ponds, wet meadows, salt ponds, freshwater ponds, spring areas, alkali marshes, streams, wet forests And forest ponds, all these environments are conducive to the flora and fauna of their own.

The RAMSAR zones of the Lorraine Park Naturel Regional.

The RAMSAR convention now includes 159 countries and its objective is  to preserve environments that have a globally recognized ecological interest. The PNRL counts two RAMSAR zones: The ponds of the Petite Woëvre in Meuse including the ponds of Lachaussée, the site of the pond of L'indre in the Moselle.
